The White Stone Story
Although White Stone opened its first Harrogate store in 2006, the story began many years earlier. One of the founders spent four years on the Alpine World Cup circuit with the British Ski Team, visiting world-renowned ski resorts including Kitzbühel, Wengen, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Aspen. During those years, it became clear that the choice of luxury ski wear in the Alps and Rockies was far greater than in the UK.
The idea of bringing that same choice to Harrogate remained for many years before White Stone finally opened its doors in 2006.

Opening White Stone
White Stone opened its first store in Harrogate in November 2006. From the beginning, ski wear was at the heart of the business, with our selection developing as we discovered new brands and introduced them to our customers.

As more skiers discovered White Stone, the business grew. In 2008 we expanded into the neighbouring premises on Cold Bath Road and launched our first website, allowing customers from much further afield to discover our selection.

As White Stone continued to grow, so did the range of products we offered. Alongside luxury ski wear, we introduced lifestyle clothing from a number of our brand partners, together with specialist tennis, fitness and golf ranges. As our ski wear selection continued to grow, we gradually dedicated more of our showroom to skiing, while the business continued to evolve.
Many of our long-standing customers will remember first discovering brands through White Stone that have since become much more widely known in the UK. Finding interesting products and choosing individual styles has always been an important part of how the business has developed.
Recognition
As White Stone continued to grow, opportunities followed that would have seemed difficult to imagine when we first opened our doors. Working alongside our premium brand partners, White Stone appeared in full-page advertisements in Tatler magazine and was later featured in its Christmas Gift Guide. Seeing White Stone featured alongside many of the world's best-known luxury brands was another memorable milestone in our journey.
As White Stone's reputation continued to grow, we were fortunate to welcome everyone from first-time skiers to World Cup and Olympic skiers, members of Royal Families, and well-known figures from sport, film and business. Regardless of who walked through our door, our approach has always remained the same.
A New Chapter
Like many businesses, the Covid years brought an unexpected period of change. While our store closed, White Stone continued online, serving customers through our website until skiers were able to return to the mountains.
In autumn 2022 we opened our present Harrogate showroom within our warehouse, creating a new home for White Stone and the next chapter in the business.
White Stone Today
Today, White Stone remains an independent, family-run business, welcoming customers to our Harrogate showroom while serving skiers throughout the UK and around the world through our website.

More than twenty years after opening our first store, the principles remain unchanged. We continue to select every style with the same care and attention as we did in 2006, helping customers choose ski wear they'll enjoy for many winters to come.
